Letterpress Used Wisely

28 January 2009 14 Comments

Last week I received a lovely package in the mail from Trish Jackson at Ajalon Printing and Design. They create unique letterpress stationary and invitations for a wide variety of events, and were kind enough to pass over a Wedding sample for your favorite bride (that’s me).

Although it’s great that Ajalon house paper is 100% cotton and they produce tree-free invitations, what I love about these samples is the different feelings they convey. Letterpress is often thought of as either too chic or just too quirky, but the samples below, as well as the few posted from their site, prove that you can convey any feeling you want, and work with Ajalon to create custom RSVP, Save the Date, and invitation cards tailored to your theme.

I love this post and Ajalon does have great invites but the price is a little steep for me…. Check out rsvppress.com and glidewellpress.com too if you haven’t already purchased your invites. They offer nice letterpress services at a much better rate. (you will have to contact rsvppress by email to get a price list and catalog sent. She is running a sale until March) Happy planning.

Hi Lola – this is Trish from Invitations by Ajalon Printing & Design. Wow, I’m so flattered by your posting! My love of letterpress began in high school (more years ago that I want to admit to!). One of my first jobs was printing letterpress – of course, that was before letterpress became so trendy!

I’ve been working in the trade for many years, mostly business printing, but I jumped at the idea of getting involved with letterpress again. Once you touch it, you can’t help but fall in love with it.

Ajalon’s been in business for over 50 years, unlike many of the letterpress printers who often operate out of their home or garage. We approach our invitation work as seriously as any other client. While we’re not the cheapest letterpress printer (do you really want the cheapest for something as important as your wedding invitation?), I feel the combined experience and professionalism of our staff can create a truly memorable invitation for you.

Thanks again for the kind words!

Most of the time I do not place comments frivolously, just that I wished to say “Happy Thanksgiving” to everybody!
