A few years ago I had the misfortune of missing my flight from JFK to Prague- and the great fortune of having to take a necessary detour to Germany. Though I only spent a few hours in Dusseldorf, it’s prescence at this weekends New York Times Travel Show reminded me why I love this city so much!
If you ever find yourself taking a detour in Dusseldorf, get out of the airport! Many major attractions in Old Town are just 15 minutes from the terminals, and a few are even closer. ...

On a recent trip to Italy, the Frill Seeker Girls packed three travel guides: a well-known standard with several maps, a hip pocket guide, and a detailed step-by-step city tour. However, it was between the day trip suggestion paragraphs that this FSD lady found her favorite Rome spots.
When we turned the corner at the Trevi Fountain, while my travel partner (and photog) was floored by the amazing tiny shops and excess of gelato, I was just amazed that a beautiful fountain so enormous in stature could be hidden behind winding ...

Love in New York City? Yes, Virginia, there is such a thing, and for city-dwellers, it’s hardly chocolate boxes and walks through the park. If you’re going to shack-up in NYC for Valentine’s Day with your honey, check out these local staples that could woo even the hardest of hearts.
To redeem yourself the cheese-points you earned seeing Avatar, grab your lover and check out a flick at The Paris. This hidden gem of a theatre is known for the classic appeal of its one (one!) auditorium, balcony seating, and minimal ...

Though I’ve extensively traveled both Europe and the US, will soon be in Mexico, and have an immanent honeymoon in Africa, one area I have not even begun to look at is Asia. Sure, I know many people who’ve planned successful trips, even sabaticals, with no issue, and had a great time. But language barriers plus a lack of knowledge on the, well, entire continent, has always nudged my planning brain to shrug, “maybe next year.” However, just one flip through the photo slides of CNN’s “Indie Asia” and I ...

Prague is not the first place most people look to when taking a European vacation. Between Paris, Rome, and London, there are so many Western European cities to consume the energy of Americans that we sometimes forget all of the beautiful history lying just slightly to the left. Because of that- or in spite of- it can be difficult to round-up a unique souvenir when visiting Eastern Europe. Case in point: Prague.
This beautiful, regal, funky Czech Republic capital makes for an amazing vacation. A great dollar to koruny ratio, plenty ...

On my first stay in the Eternal City, Rome, Italy, I had the unfortunate experience of being sick. Actually, very, very sick. Bronchitis and near Pneumonia ravaged me and the last thing I wanted to do was navigate myself through foreign city. That’s why I believe it was truly fate that my travel package landed me at the Donatello Hotel.
The Donatello was just a short 4 block walk from the A line train in Rome (the Manzoni station) and later I found out, just a few minutes by bus ...

It seems like every year the Holidays sneak up on me. My first realization that this week is Thanksgiving was when my boss told me I had off for two days. In the middle of rejoicing for a four day weekend I soon remembered how many gifts I had to figure out and started scrambling for ideas. Being that I’m a bit of a diy fanatic, shopping at the normal department stores may get the job done, but it never quite feels like anything has a personal ...
