A Vino Break at the Brooklyn Winery

I have a love-hate relationship with Williamsburg. Being born in Brooklyn, I have strong opinions about the state of the borough. I’ve been less than excited about the direction Williamsburg has gone in largely because I fear it’s a “throw away culture,” a place that has boomed fast, packed with young, beautiful things with full wallets and high expectations. Historically, these revolutions last only so long before the young and beautiful move on to the next big thing. But, this weekend, I witnessed growth with substance and saw a project …

Stuck Between a Rock and Another Place

A few weeks ago I had the great pleasure of catching a quick coffee with Linda and Craig Martin. Known for Indie Travel Podcast, this dynamic couple embodies the kind of adventurous spirit I’ve always wanted to unabashedly show, but have never had the courage to fully embrace.
I learned a lot about how Indie Travel Podcast started and Craig’s hair regiment and we laughed about families reactions to traveling, both wonderful and slightly off. Linda looked across the table and asked “What about you? What are you doing?” and for …

Deep in a lush forest, you can find, what I consider to be one of the most comfortable, most familiar lodging options you will find in Rwanda. Nyungwe Forest Lodge offers 22 personal villas, each secluded behind brush, thick landscape, and amazing architecture, filled with ultra soft beds, tall ceilings, and pristine wood floors. It’s the only 5-star resort in the area, and its surrounding on all sides by a tea plantation, and 13 species of native primates.
Whether you’d like to take a steamy shower in the glass enclosure, or …

A few months ago I went on an infamous quick girls getaway to Paris and Rome and developed horrifying pneumonia while I was there, and carried it for the entire trip. I’m pretty well known for becoming sick on trips, but for me, this was the final straw. Since then I’ve taken every precaution, from extra vaccinations to local food knowledge and preparation, to stay healthy while I’m abroad. When @ChooseCherries contacted me with a few reasons why a simple bag of cherries could help me achieve these goals, I …

Gourmet NYC

Food is everywhere in NYC. There’s a reason fashion editors crack jokes about the “Diet Coke and Cigarettes” diet and everyone counts calories like crazy. It’s not because we’re hyper-aware, it’s because if you wanted to, in New York City, you could literally never stop eating. The tall shoes keep us further from the feast, and the black clothes mask spillage from amazing meals. It’s a rouse, I’m sorry to inform you.
And on this list of amazing, fantastic places to manga, I’ve got a few favorites. Recently, when an out-of-town …

Life at the Palms: My (Sorta) Weekend in Vegas

Just days before a friends bachelorette party, I was confronted by her maid of honor. The planning of the Las Vegas girl getaway had gone so, so wrong and she needed help. They didn’t have dinner reservations, show plans, club recommendations… all they had agreed on was that it had to be the Palms.
The Palms, for many New Yorkers of the Jersey Shore persuasion, is West Coast version of mecca. It comes out of the artificial Vegas skyline like a beacon, glossy, heavily branded. There’s no mistake about what you …
