Hi,
I would recommend a day trip to Tivoli to visit Villa Adriana, Villa d'Este and the newly renovated Villa Gregoriana. Another day trip would be spent between Ostia Antica in the morning and on the way back based on your interests either a walking tour of the EUR quarter or a visit to San Paolo fuori le Mura, San Giovanni in Laterano and Santa Maria Maggiore, and the nearby amazing Santa Prassede. These basilicas are easily reachable by metro. Another area in Rome I always suggest to visit is the Aventino with its amazing medieval churches and peaceful street that would lead you to cross the hill and end your tour by the Testaccio area where you could try one of the several trattorias serving real roman food. If you are into museums do not miss Galleria Borghese, the Museo Romano (4 locations but my fave is Palazzo Massimo) and the Etruscan Museum in Valle Giulia. There's so much to discover in Rome even for long time residents like myself:-) These are just ideas but If you need more detailed suggestions just drop an email and I'll happy to assist:-)
Ciao bella

Seriously, once you're there you will figure it out. Lots of walking, and eating so bring your comfy sneaks and empty tummys. You are going to have a blast!
