Away We Go!
In less than a week I will be across the pond on a trip that will include planes, trains, and automobiles. Since I’m pretty much an expert packer at this point in my existence, many of you have been asking what I’m going to pack for my holiday away in Europe. To me, it’s really important to be compact, efficient, and bring essentials. See below for some of my top travel item picks.
I like to splurge on good luggage so I can hold everything I will need on me. I’m a big fan of Diane Von Furstenburg’s Expandable Shortbound Upright. It has a ton of pockets.
Even though I travel all the time, I still get sick on long flights. Because of that, I love Germ Pak. Flight 001 makes this lil helper that contains soap sheets, anti-bacterial towelettes, tissues, and a E-Boost immunity booster. Staying clean is one way to stay healthy when you’re up and away a lot. Using the light plastic container as a garbage collector is a smart idea, too. Take all your trash with you!
I’m a major klutz so I always pack a ton of band aids. Pick up these light and easy cuties at FredFlare.com.
It’s always a good idea to pack an extra bag for personal items. I like this Cotton Canvas LA-Z Girl Side Pocket Bag by American Apparel since it easily slips into bigger luggage.
On trips where I will be traveling on land, I like to bring a smaller suitcase and a backpack. This Orla Kiely Carry-on Cars Trolley is the perfect size and you’ll never miss it at baggage claim.
As a writer, I journal all my travels in Moleskine notebooks that I keep for inspiration. With the elastic band, you can tuck train or plane tickets, maps, and other mementos inside. No litter, no loosing anything.
I love digital cameras and find Kodak Easy Share’s to be the simplest to work with. Just plug into my iMac and click import!
I’m beginning work on a set of web video for a series, and I love my new Insignia HD Camcorder. It’s so small it literally fits in my pocket!
I love packing backpacks for train travel since it allows me to carry everything in one. These Dakine bags have cute prints and are light on the shoulders.
Plane rides can get chilly, and I’m not a fan of those blankets they sometimes pass out. On a whim in Las Vegas I purchased the buttery soft n.a.p. travel blanket from Brookstones and now I have one in every color!
I hate paying for $10 waters at gift shops. You can always empty out a bottle at home and pack it in your carry on, but this Pitcher Water Bottle from FredFlare.com is too cute!
