4 Exotic Passport-Free Beach Flings
You might feel like you need to spin your globe and chose a far-flung destination to experience an exotic beach trip, but great and relaxing vacations are closer than you think. Instead of cashing out your savings account for a complicated journey, try a stress-free jaunt – no passport required.
Guam
The brunt of jokes because of it’s somewhat far proximity to the continental US, Guam is a United States territory with some stunning South Pacific style. Golf fans will love the variety of courses featuring sterling Pacific Ocean views, and lush landscape. Or, have the locals take you boonie stomping, the area term for hiking. Here’s the Visit Guam Tourism Website for more information.
Key West
Sure you can lounge on the beach at any of these passport-free locales, but history buffs will find a special love for Key West. Take a tour of the former home of Ernest Hemingway, and meet the ancestors of a few of his cats. And after enjoying a slice of their famed Key Lime Pie, rent a bicycle and get to know the architecture of the island. Find packages and deals from Little Palm Key West Resort here.
Puerto Rico
In Puerto Rico you can experience an exotic beach vacation just a few hours away from home. Try a little local flavor by visiting the Mayaguez farmer’s market. Or, take a boat out on Bioluminescent Bay at night to view a stunning natural canopy of firefly-like creatures on top of the water that glow when touched. See Puerto Rico has some great ideas for visitors.
US Virgin Islands
With three islands to choose from (St. John, St. Thomas, and St. Croix) you’ve got a wide range of beach-going here. Fly into St. Thomas, the main transportation hub, and enjoy the legendary shopping in the alleys of Charlotte Amalie. From there, head to St. Croix for a tour of the world renowned coral reef ecosystem of Buck Island. Finally, view the lush national parks of St. John, namely Cinnamon Cay, where ruins and flora live in harmony. There are a bunch of really great fall deals here- they began this week!
I cannot wait to go to Puerto Rico. I have many friends who have gone there and loved it! It is nice to bring the kids and not have to worry about passports.

What a nice several minute diversion from the freezing cold that is Charlotte right now. Been to Key West (and adored its quirkiness) but not these other 3. Must work on that!
